Getting A Quote
Getting a quote and buying insurance for the first time can be hard and confusing. Below is a general list of items that you will need when you get a quote and why you need them:
Your Personal Information.
- This includes information like; your name, address, DOB, Gender, SSN, how long you've had your license and your email address
- This is all needed so that your insurance company and figure out how much to charge you by putting you into a specific group of customers that have similar personal details and so that they can contact if they need to.
Your Car
- This includes information like; how much it was (lease, own or own and make payments), vehicle identification number (VIN) OR the cars year, make, model, body style and safety equipment
- This is so the insurance company can find out how much your car is worth and how much it would be to fix if you got into an accident
Your driving history
- This includes information like; how many driving violations you've had and how many times you've made a claim
- Insurance companies need this because they can then decide how accident prone you are and then alter your insurance rates accordingly
Your Current Insurance Policy
- This includes information like; the insurance companies name, limits of liability(how much your current company pays for certain coverage's)you chose and your policies expiration date
- Insurance companies always consider it less of a risk to give you insurance if you have been with another company before. If this is your first time getting insurance then your rates will be higher then usual because they don't know how you drive.
Other Stuff That Could Affect Your Rate
- This includes; discounts, how your policy is purchased and your billing
- Some insurance companies will give you a discount on your policy if you have good grades or have gone through the drivers education program. If you brought your policy online then some insurance companies will give you a lower rate. When you sign up to your policy if you pay it all of at once then some insurance companies will give some sort of discount likewise other companies will give you a discount if you pay your bills electroniclaly
